Individual assessments and training programs

A dual focus from our Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists

No two bodies are the same. An individual tailored exercise program is the key to successful rehabilitation or maintenance. Our Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists take the time to get to know you – your medical history, your lifestyle, your goals, and any barriers to physical activity.

Your Exercise Physiology assessment may include the analysis of: strength, core stability, cardiovascular fitness, endurance, balance, flexibility or mobility and allows us to track your progress.

Your Physiotherapy assessment will focus on any underlying impairments in sensation, strength, co-ordination, motor control, joint function, and integration of these into the way you move.

The outcome of the dual assessment is a detailed goal-focused exercise plan where you know what to expect every step of the way.

Semi-Supervision

Get the most out of following your exercise program with our supervised time slots limited to just 3 people

Yes we want our equipment to be used. You will need to bring a written program from the other therapist, and attend at least one 30 minute session with our EP to learn to use the equipment correctly, understand safety protocols and check your technique. If you don’t have a written program, you can book a longer session with our EP to have this prescribed, ideally with a handover from your physiotherapist.
Our goal is that you can book and manage your appointments online, however, we need to make sure you are getting the best care and outcome for your level of ability so if you are new to Neurospace, have not been for 6 months, or previously attended a small group you will need go through reception.
The NeuroStudio will be accessible for wheelchairs and those requiring no steps from the rear of the building at the Prospect Court entrance, this is signposted with no street number. No. You only need a doctor’s referral if you wish to claim through the Department of Veterans Affairs or through your insurance company (e.g. Workcover, Comcare), or if you use a Chronic Care Plan package.
Yes. You can claim a portion of your appointment from Medicare so long as you have any Chronic Care plan referral from your doctor. This can be processed directly at the time of your appointment if you have your bank details registered with Medicare. This is for a maximum of 5 visits per year inclusive all allied health professionals selected by the GP to manage your chronic health condition.

Yes we provide services for people with an insurance claim for their injury.  We are often chosen to help solve complex or long standing cases. To be eligible to claim on your insurance, we require the following:

  • A doctor’s or your case manager referral
  • Your claim number
  • Your insurance company and claim manager

We need to get preapproval for the initial assessment before the first consultation and defined number of sessions.

Please note that all claims are subject to approval by the insurance company. If the insurer or Comcare does not agree to Neurospace’s full fees then you are required to pay the gap and seek direct reimbursement from the insurer. For example, the insurance company may only pay for a 20 minute consult when Neurospace treats standardly for a minimum of 30 minutes.

We use Tyro which covers most health funds. We can process your appointment through our Tyro machine at our Phillip practice on the day of your consultation only. You must bring your Health Fund Card for this to happen. If you ring up to pay for a telehealth or home visit appointment you will need to claim this back later from your health fund.
We accept EFTPOS and credit card facilities. We no longer accept cheque and prefer not to handle cash. Please note that we do not accept American Express or Diner’s Club. Payment is expected within 7 days of the service if paying privately. Third party payments need to be preset up before the consultation, and if you are planning to use this the paperwork needs to be provided before the session.

Neurospace is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the NDIS. We offer services in Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology and allied health assistant.

If you have a plan already in place, please call to discuss how Neurospace can work with you to reach your goals. If you are still in the planning stages, we can also discuss what services are available in the community that may be of benefit to you.

As a registered provider, we can bill directly to the NDIS for your services or you can chose to self-manage your plan or have someone manage your plan for you. We also work closely with other providers to provide you with the best care.

We are able to help all My Aged Care package holders except for Self-Managed. We work closely with you and your aged care provider to ensure that we deliver outstanding service in the home or in our clinics. We also are able to do ‘top up’ visits to aged care facilities where you feel more help is needed on top of the physio or exercise services provided there. This may need to be paid privately.

We offer services as home visits, community visits ( somewhere not your home) and at the pool. There is an additional charge for these due to the extra time required to travel to a home or care facility. Please contact us to discuss external visits in greater detail.

We offer telehealth using a range of ‘video’ communications to assess and manage you online. Our telehealth charges are the same as if you were in the rooms.

Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists work together, complementing each other’s work.   Everyone can benefit from a physiotherapy or exercise physiology session of a comprehensive movement / fitness check up.   Often we are not aware that something is changing in our bodies until pain and reduced function scream out at us to get in checked.  You do not need a doctors referral to seek an answer from us, and if you need a doctor we will refer you on with a detailed letter.

The physiotherapy and exercise physiology we offer at Neurospace is particularly targeted at long standing and difficult problems. We place emphasis on clients gaining quality of life and meaning from our therapy. See our Fit to Retire package to get a start on making a difference in your quality of life.

Neurospace has a special interest in helping people with movement problems due to damage to the nervous and/or sensory systems. Our approach has been developed by a lifetime of work by our principal therapist Deborah Carrera and there is systematic training approach to ensure all the team understand this. We apply a holistic approach that seek to assess the underlying impairments and understand how these impact the way you move. We develop and progress the treatment plan addressing both the impairments and retraining the way you move.

In addition, we apply this holistic approach to issues such as joint pain, sporting injuries , and post surgery rehabilitation. We like to think we can help anyone, but if we don’t think we are the right place for you , we let you know and refer you onto a place that can help you.

Our therapists enjoy taking a hands-on approach and this makes up the majority of the treatment. However, some machines are beneficial in helping recovery. For example, we use cold laser therapy to help mobilise scar tissue and improve healing, muscle stimulators to activate weak muscles. When a machine is used, the therapist remains with you, and this is only a small portion of the overall assessment and treatment.
Home exercises will be beneficial to virtually all problems we encounter, however it is always your choice as to what you do. The brain relearns the correct movements by doing repetitions frequently, so we try to keep the number of exercises small and choose the most appropriate for you. We discuss how this is going to fit into your current routine and work with you to make the program achievable for your situation.
Yes. Equipment can be purchased through Neurospace. We stock a range of exercise equipment that you can purchase to assist your rehabilitation program. Our therapists may also prescribe certain items such as braces to assist movement – and aids to help you in the home. We can order these if you wish.
